"Most assuredly, I say to you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; and you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy." (John 16:20)

Dear Friend,

Trusting that all is well with you and your loved ones. It is such a relief to know that warm weather in on its way, and there will be no more snow storms for a while. This has been the hardest winter that I can remember. We were not able to get our mail out on time, we could not pick up our mail at the post office, or get to the bank so that our bills could be paid. It was unbelievable how we had to work around the snow and ice to try to get things accomplished. Thank God, we did not miss a day of ministry through all this! God kept our phones in good working order, which was amazing since I heard people were having problems. Plus through the Grace of God we were not late with paying our bills. The electricity went off in our office and it was something that the electric company had to fix. Our volunteer phone prayer partners were hit also in their health and in other ways.  In the natural, this was truly a time for weeping, plus frustration, BUT God, who is so Faithful saw us through it. And Spring is here! Soon we will see trees and flowers in bloom. Glory!

When Jesus was speaking to His disciples, (John 16:20)  He was referring to the time of His crucifixion and death. His disciples would be filled with unspeakable sorrow and grief. They would wonder whatever happened? Wasn't Jesus going to be a King and they would all be by His side as He reigned? What about all our plans? What did Jesus mean by this? Jesus knew what they were thinking and He explained what He meant by comparing it to a woman in labor; "A woman, when she is in labor, has sorrow because her hour has come; but as soon as she has given birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world. Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you. And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in my Name He will give it to you."  (Vs.21,23)

There are times in life when we feel as if we are going through a cold, dark, winter season. Perhaps we had plans for great things to occur, and then suddenly they fell through. Perhaps an illness came which seemed to never go away, and we felt as though we would never get well; perhaps even die. We prayed, we kept our hope up but in this season we felt cold and in the dark, as if God has not heard us crying out.

But just as we felt that we have reached the end, God suddenly shows up! The sun begins to shine again, and everything looks bright! The birds are singing, the warmth of the sun fills us with healing and gladness. Everything is new again, and there is promise once more in our life! Glory! Just as the woman in labor, new life has been born and joy has returned! How precious is that newborn baby in its mother's arms! She holds him close to her heart and promises to love and care for him for the rest of his life, and nothing, or no one can ever change that. How precious….. can we even try to imagine God's love for us? The mother held her baby in her womb for nine months, loving her child and making such plans for his birth. But it was God who created this baby, who tenderly put him together in his mother's womb, who decided if he should have his mother's eyes, or his father's nose! And after 9 months of creating every cell, gland, and organ in his body, He said, "It is finished, come into the world!" How awesome is that! And what joy for all of us! This is how much our heavenly Father loves us!

Back to the Disciples…. We can only imagine how they felt as they saw Jesus whipped and spit upon, carrying His Cross that would hold His body as He was nailed to it. All their plans… gone, so they thought… the One they loved, suffering horrendously as He gave up His life for us.

But this was not the end! On the Third Day Jesus Rose from the dead, the grave was empty! He appeared to Mary, to His Disciples, to His mother! The scars were on His hands and feet, but He was alive forever more!! Victory was won! The Son of God has Risen!! Heaven was now opened to all who would believe on Him and accept Him as Lord and Savior! The Blood of Jesus has ransomed us, we are now set free to live for Him and to know Him intimately. It is time to rejoice and know that no man, nothing, can ever take away that joy, or separate us from Him who loves us so much. Jesus told us that we can ask anything in His Name and the Father will give it to us. This is amazing! He said to ask and we will receive so that our JOY may be full. Jesus has overcome. "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." (John 16:33)

If you have not received Jesus into your heart as Lord and Savior, you can do so right now. Please pray these words out loud, right now! Do not hold off, no one knows what tomorrow will bring, we need Jesus now!

"Father in Jesus Name, I thank You for loving me. Thank you for dying for my sins. I confess to you that I am a sinner and I ask You to forgive me of all my sin. Please come into my life, right now, as my Lord and Savior. Live Your life in me, and be the Lord of my life. Thank you that I am the object of Your special love and care. You really love me, You want me. Thank you for the joy of salvation! You have turned my mourning into dancing! Amen!"

If you have said that prayer and meant it with all your heart, then you are saved. You are now a child of God! He makes all things new, and His love and care will carry you through life, through the good times and bad. You are an overcomer! Nothing by any means can harm you. You have the victory in Him. Find a good church near you, and continue to grow in your walk. Start reading the Bible, the Gospel of John, so that His Word will become life to you, and hope for your future.
Father, in Jesus' Name I pray for this person who is reading this, and I ask You to hold him or her in Your loving arms, and bring encouragement, strength, healing, peace, and all that is of you into this life. Thank You Father.  Amen!  Happy Resurrection Sunday!

In His Service,

Pastor Barbara
