AUGUST 2017

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust. (Psalm 91:1,2)
Dear Friend,
Trusting that all is well with you and your loved ones. We are all fine, and enjoying the summer weather as we go out to evangelize our neighborhoods. Times have gotten so serious in the last year, with so much going on.  More than ever, we must get out there to encourage people to receive the Lord, and trust in Him for safety and all their needs.
I have lived through many wars... World War ll, the Korean War, Viet Nam, Gulf war, and now there is threat of more coming.  I remember as a child talking to Jesus at night, and asking Him to keep my family and me safe. We had drills in school to help us know what to do in case a bomb should hit, and that weighed heavily on my heart. War is awful, there are no words to describe the horrors of what goes on. But one thing we need to always remember is this: God is with us. No matter what goes on in the world, we have a secret place to go to for peace and safety.  It is a place where no one, and nothing, can come against us because God covers us. Ps. 91:9,10,and 11  tells us: Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways.

Wow! Just think! We have angels who are assigned to us to watch over us!  However, we are not to talk to our angels, only to God. We can ask God to please send His angels to watch over us, and our loved ones. This is their assignment, this is their job so to speak. We can ask God for wisdom in all circumstances.  We can ask Him to cover our loved ones with protection.  When I get in my car I pray before I drive. I ask God to please station angels to the front, the left, the right and back of my car for protection.  Sometimes I can even picture  huge Angels traveling along with me on the sides of my car. One day I was coming home from church, and got to a Stop sign. I looked both ways, and no one was there so I started my car. There was a stop sign on the end of the road on my right. The next moment a car was in front of mine and if I couldnt stop short, I would have hit the drivers door! The man smiled and continued to go!  He most likely did not stop at the Stop sign on his side, he just went through.  I believe that Gods angels were there and that they stopped my car. Glory to God!  To go back to when I was about 3 or 4 years old, I remember vividly riding my three wheeler bike down the block on the sidewalk. I saw a car pulling out of a driveway, but thought I could make it through. The next thing I knew, I was laying under the car, and looking up at the mechanical parts of the car and saying to myself, this is what it looks like under a car! I was very interested in it. Then suddenly, I felt someone pulling me out to the back, and when I turned around, I did not see anyone. I was so puzzled, I kept looking to see what was happening to me because I was being pulled out from under the car!  Suddenly the sun was shining and I got up from the ground. The car was in front of me. I recall my neighbors all cheering and someone calling my mother. When I asked who pulled me out from under the car, everyone said no one, I just seem to slide out.........   They were all smiling and talking about what happened and how I suddenly slipped out backwards from under the car.....  Angels?  I certainly think so!
There have been other incidents in my life that cause me to believe that God sent His angels to rescue me.  One time as a young adult, I was being attacked by a man. He had me on the ground, and was choking me.  I remember telling God that if this was my time to go, then please take me, I was ready.  Suddenly the man took his hands off of me and got up giving me a chance to get up and run.  Again... an Angel?
Think about your own life. Have there been times when you have said, but for the Grace of God? He certainly could have sent a warring angel to rescue you!  He could have sent angels to stand by your bedside or operating table to watch over you while being taken care of or sleeping. I do believe that we can ask God to surround our homes with His angels for protection. And He will do it. They are on assignment just waiting for their marching orders.
Our time here on earth is short. I remember once I asked my mother how long will I live?  She said 84. I was about 7 or 8 at the time, so that sounded really good to me then.  Now, I keep trying to hold back the years!  (Smile) But knowing Who I will see when I die, takes all fear away. However, there is always something that all of us would like to accomplish before we die. What lasting effect, if any, will our life have? I believe God allows  times that mark our memory to not only learn from our mistakes, but to teach us how to live on with courage. It takes courage to press in and take care of a family when ill, or when a job is lost. It takes courage to say no to the things of the world when others do not understand and mock us for our beliefs. It takes courage to work hard to follow a dream that God has given us. Who do you turn to when there is no one to tell your troubles to? Everyone needs encouragement. Everyone needs a refuge. A place to hide and heal. David found all this from God, and his Refuge never failed! He never regretted giving God his problems. God was his Strength, his Refuge, his Fortress, his Stronghold and High Tower. And God never failed. Will you make God your Shelter when you are facing lifes storms?
Father, in Jesus Name, I thank you for this reader. I ask you Father, to surround this person with Your angels at all times for protection. I ask You to be this persons Shelter in times of facing lifes storms. Hold this reader in Your arms and surround him or her with Your angels for protection. Encourage this person now, today, and fill this person with Your love, Your hope, and Your joy. Thank You Father. Amen.

Blessings,

Rev. Barbara A. Yovino, Ph.D.
