"While he was still speaking; behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying. "This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!"(Matthew 17:5)

Dear Friend,

Trusting that all is well with you, and your loved ones. We are fine, and all is well here. Can you believe that the year will be over so soon? Christmas is around the corner!  Wishing you, and your loved ones a Blessed Christmas and a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous New Year. All of  God's choicest blessings!

This month we are bombarded with stores shouting out "Come and shop, sales going on! Buy, buy, buy!" It is amazing how the "world" wants to do away with Christianity. In many places churches are burned, missionaries are tortured, Bibles are forbidden, and Chaplains are not allowed to mention the name of Jesus. Public schools have taken God out completely, and it is against the rules to give the true meaning of Christmas.  At the same time stores cry out for Christians to spend all their money on gifts, but don't mention Christmas!
Let us, as Christians, show the world that this is a wonderful time of year where we celebrate our Savior's birth. Let us hold on and pass on to the next generation the miracle of Jesus'  birth, life, death and Resurrection. It is all celebrated now because without His birth, there would be no Cross and no Resurrection.

When Jesus took Peter, James and John up on the mountain, "and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, His clothes became as white as the light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. Then Peter answered and said to Jesus. '"Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, let us make here three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.' While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!'" (Matt: 17:2-5) Could you just imagine how the Disciples felt at that time? They were so excited, and wanted to be a part of what was happening! However, there was another purpose for this vision. God was affirming that the Prophets were supporting Jesus in His mission on earth. The Affirmation by God the Father commanded the Disciples to accept Jesus' instructions about His suffering. When the Disciples heard this, they fell on their faces and were greatly afraid. (Vs. 6). Jesus touched them and told them not to be afraid.(Vs. 7).

Therefore, the most important thing for all of us to remember is this… we do not listen to what the world says, we listen to what God says. We listen in all things, because when Jesus came to this earth as a tiny baby, submitting Himself to a human mother, and to his stepfather, Joseph, He taught us how to live. He gave us instructions through His life and teachings, that we find written in the Bible so  that we can learn, and grow and have a personal relationship with Him. If we want the answers to life's questions, we must HEAR HIM. We hear Him through His Word, through preaching, through Bible Studies, and through our private prayer time with Him. The world will tell us that wrong is right and right is wrong. The world will tell us if it feels good, it is okay. The world will tell us that this is all there is. But God's Word tells us that Jesus came so that we can have life and have life more abundantly! (John 10:10)

This is the time for the Church to rise up and shine. This is the time for Christians to speak boldly about our faith. This is the time for all of us to fight for our beliefs and not be quiet. Let us hear Him, and hear what He has to say in all situations. As we joyously celebrate His Birthday, let us all pray with our loved ones and pray that each one of us will grow stronger in what we believe and hold dear to us. This is what we celebrate on Christmas!  We celebrate the fact that Jesus, the second Person of the Holy Trinity, God's only begotten Son, came down to earth to live as we do, and then die for our sins. He left a place of Glory before His Heavenly Father, to save us from eternal damnation. If not for His death on the Cross of Calvary, we would not have the opportunity to be saved. All of us are sinners, saved only by Grace. All of us need a Savior. Jesus was that Spotless Lamb, sacrificed by the shedding of His Blood so that we can be redeemed. This is why His birth is so special! This is why the world would like to take that away, thinking that without His birth, and life, there is no victory because of His death: That His death was meaningless.

Therefore, let us celebrate with loud trumpets this year! If you have a shofar, take it on Christmas morning and blow the sound of victory! Let it be heard throughout the land, that Jesus is born! He came to set the captives free! We are free! Let the heavens rejoice at the sound, and let us be bold with our faith. Let us spread the Word, Jesus has come, be set free! Glory to God in the Highest! Let all the angels rejoice at our voices as they rise up in adoration for our Lord and Savior.  Let Christmas morning be the first day of your life. Let what Jesus did for you sink in and cause ripples of joy and adoration spring forth from your whole being. Jesus is Born! Because of Him, we have new life. Because of Him, we can be Born Again and know that we can live with Him forever and ever in heaven, in all its glory. Alleluia!

If you have not asked Jesus to come into your life as your Lord and Savior, then now is the time. Let this be the most important Christmas gift you have ever given to yourself. Say this prayer with me.

"Lord Jesus, I love You. Thank You for loving me. Thank You for coming to this earth to live and to die for me and for my sins. I confess to You that I am a sinner, and I ask You to forgive me. Come into my life as my Lord and Savior. Live Your life in me, and help me to live for You. Thank You for Christmas, thank You for Your life, and thank You that because of You, I will have life eternal with You. Today is the first day of the rest of my life. The past is gone, and the new has come. Thank You Jesus! Amen!

Thank You Father, for hearing  this prayer. I lift this reader up to You and place him or her in Your loving arms. Thank You Father that he or she is Your child, and that You love him or her so very much. Touch this person now and fill this person with Your love, Your peace, and Your joy. Thank You Father for a bright, happy New Year. Amen.

In His Service,

Pastor Barbara
