December 2016

And He shall reign over the house of David forever; and of His kingdom there shall be no end.” (Luke 1:33)

Dear Friend,

Trusting that all is well with you, and your loved ones. As of this writing, we are having serious phone issues, and I pray that by the time you read this, that this will be a thing of the past. Right now, I am working closely with the phone company to get our lines working normally again. We decided to change our phone system to a new one, digital, because it offered so much more and it was even less money. Since then we have had horrendous problems, and we are in the process of going back to the original system. The old fashioned way, that worked! If you have been having difficulty getting through to our prayer line, that is the reason why. Sometimes progress is not a good thing.

However, here we are in December, and Christmas is such a wonderful time of the year. People are in a good mood, everything seems lighter and happier. Those of us who know the reason for the season, understand why this is happening. It is not because of Santa Claus, although he does bring joy to children. But it is the Spirit behind Christmas, the time of wishing our Savior Happy Birthday! Yes, we know that Jesus could have been born at a different time, some say according to certain calendars, it could have been in the Spring. But the thing is, no matter when He was born, He did have a Birthday! So, we celebrate Him coming to earth to save mankind. We honor Him and think of His humble beginnings, and the life that He led here on earth. It is really impossible to think of how Mary must have felt knowing that her Son.... her Son! was the Savior of all mankind! Little did she know that she would have such wonderful times with Him while He was growing up. Except for the time when He left the group to go preach in the Synagogue! Just imagine how Mary and Joseph felt, not knowing where He was! A parents’ worse nightmare! But there He was, preaching in the Synagogue, and then when they asked why He did that to them, he simply answered, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?” (Luke 2:49 NKJ) He must have been like every little boy learning and growing, touching His mother’s life, and Mary’s husband, the man called Joseph. Joseph knew who He was, and he raised him as a Son. He taught Him his trade, and the Torah, and the way to live life as He must. People knew He was different though. He was like every boy growing up into manhood, but the Bible says that He never sinned. (1 Peter 2:22) It was His mother who brought out the time of His mission on earth when she asked Him to fill the bottles of wine at the wedding. That was His first miracle among so many, that the world could not contain the books that should be written. (John 21:25) It is at this time that we can identify with Jesus, as He became human so that He could feel and know everything that a human being goes through. He knew what it was to be cold, to be hungry, to be tired, to see His friends walk away from Him, to have no place to lay His head, and to be alone. But He never sinned…. How many of us, and me included, sometimes get so upset over something that we lose it for a moment? Maybe say things that we wish we hadn’t? Jesus had plenty to be upset about so many times, and yet the Bible says “He sinned not.” What patience He had! And He still has! After all, He listens to our woes and complaints all the time! He knows exactly what is bothering us, and He simply smiles and intercedes to our Heavenly Father for us in love and in patience. “Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them. (Hebrews 7:25)

On Christmas this year, and every year, let us think of all that our Savior has done for us! He certainly didn’t choose a charmed life. He wanted to go through everything that we do, and then in the end, I wonder if He already knew the horror of what He would go through. He would sacrifice His life for us. He willingly did this so that those who believe on Him can have everlasting life with Him in Heaven.

Can any of us truly picture what went on in heaven before Jesus was born of a Virgin? Our Heavenly Father had to be heartbroken over the sins of mankind. When He created the world, the land, the oceans, the sun and the stars, He said it was good. Then He created man, and said it was not good for man to be alone. So He created a woman, a helpmeet for him. “And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone: I will make him a helpmeet for him.” (Gen. 2:18) And what happened? They were deceived by the devil and sin came into the world! They blew it!

However, we have a Loving and Compassionate Father, Who worked it out for us.”For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have life eternal.” (John 3:16) If you have never asked Jesus to come into your life as your personal Lord and Savior, what better time is this? The whole world is celebrating His birth. If you were the only man or woman on the earth, He would have done it all for you. That is how important you are to Him! Say this prayer with me out loud: “Lord Jesus I need You. I confess to you that I am a sinner, and I ask You to forgive me. Come into my life as my personal Lord and Savior. I give myself to You. Take over my life, and make me whole. I thank You Lord, that You have heard my prayer, and that I am forgiven. I am washed clean by the Blood You shed on the Cross for me. I am a new creation! Help me to live for you all the days of my life. Thank You Jesus for hearing my prayer. Amen.” If you have said this prayer, and meant it with all your heart, you are now “Born Again.” The old life is washed away, it is forgotten, and now you are starting out brand new! Read the Gospel of John, and make reading the Bible an important part of your life so that you can grow. Find a good church and get involved in it. If you need help to find one, call our prayer line 718-238-4600 and give us your zip code. We will help you to find one. Keep growing, and keep learning. Jesus loves you with an everlasting love. Amen! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
