“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him.” 1 John 3:1 (NIV)

Dear Friend,

Trusting that all is well with you and your loved ones. We are all fine, and looking forward to all that God will do in this year. Isn’t our walk with Him such an exciting one? We never know what gems He has in store for us! No one can say that the Christian walk is boring; it is the most exciting, exhilarating life we can live while here on earth! God has His ways of giving us such wonderful surprises, and we should always be prepared to receive them! We are never to lose heart, or give up hope because God is a God of Love, and He loves us so much.

Our Father in heaven just loves to love on us! We are His children! We were thought of before time began!  Our Father lovingly and tenderly formed us in our mothers’ womb so that we could be born, live a victorious life here on earth, and then spend eternity with Him in heaven. Glory!

Just think about this for a moment. Do you have children? If not, simply think of those you love so much that your one wish for them is that they always have enough, always have all that they need and even want, so that they can be happy. You desire to see them happy, comfortable, and above all living their lives for the Lord. You have a special relationship with them. You know their heart; you know their needs. You do all you can to help them to reach their goals.

This is what our Heavenly Father wants for us! We are His children, and He longs to lavish His love upon us! Yet there is something that He desires of us: He also wants our fellowship. He wants to reveal Himself to us, and teach us and show us the things that are on His heart. He wants to give us Gifts so that we can be a blessing to the body of Christ. He has a treasure house of Gifts! The only way that He can bestow His Gifts, and His love, is when we take time out of our busy schedule to actually spend time with Him!

How can He reveal Himself to us? He does this in many ways. First and foremost, is through His Word, the Bible. The Bible is His love letter to us, where He pours out His heart to teach us, to show us how to live, and how to know Him. I mean REALLY KNOW HIM! Anything we want to know, can be found in His Word. All the issues of life can be found there, so His Word should be studied and digested until it becomes a part of us. We should belong to a good church, and become part of the community of believers to help us to grow in our Christian walk.

Jesus wants to spend time with us. He searches out those who will take time to shut off the TV and put aside worldly things, and just sit at His feet. This month the world thinks of Valentine’s Day, where we take time to tell our loved ones in a special way that we love them. This is wonderful, but wouldn’t it be more wonderful if we did this every day? And just think for a moment. We could have the happiest marriage, we could have the most loving children, and be blessed with great friends around us, but... as glorious as this is, it will never equal the love that our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ has for us. It was Jesus, who willingly left His place in Heaven as the revered Son of God, and came down to earth, taking the form of a baby, born in humble circumstances to live among us. He was willing to suffer everything that we go through. “”For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.” (Heb. 4:14, NKJV) He willingly went to the Cross, suffered and died for our sins. What greater love could there be than this?

Praise God, Jesus Rose from the dead, and is alive forevermore! Praise God, He sent His Holy Spirit to walk the walk with us, showing us how to live! Praise God, we were not left alone! Jesus Lives!!!!

How well do we know Him? I mean, really know Him? A little over six months ago the Lord impressed upon me to take the time every evening to just sit before Him and pray and listen. My TV is still shut, and I wonder if I will ever watch it again!  I do watch the evening news, and once in a while if there is something special on the new channel GODTV I will watch it. Other than that, I am having the time of my life! Little by little Jesus is revealing more and more of Himself to me. We think we know Him, but in reality we don’t.

Let me see if I can word this correctly. We know Him enough to have a relationship with Him, we give Him praise and honor, and we live our life for Him. We know we have the Gift of Eternal Life, and that we will go to Heaven. That part is true, but it is for us. Yes, Jesus loves us, and His desire is for us to be with Him forever... It does go both ways. However.. Do we really know Him? Do we know what is on His heart? Are we willing to take the time to find out? Meditate upon this as you think of love, and Who Love is! God bless you!

God bless you,

Rev. Barbara A. Yovino, Ph.D.
