" The Lord has appeared of old to me saying: 'Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with loving kindness I have drawn you. Again I will build you, and you shall be rebuilt.'" (Jeremiah 31:3)

Dear Friend,

Trusting that all is well with you, and your loved ones. Christian Hope Network has begun the new year filled with promise of great things in store for the people of God. Our ministry is expanding around the world, and much is also happening within our own Country, State and City. Each day we hear from people who have had prayers answered and are rejoicing in all that God is doing in their life! Praise God!

There is so much happening in the world today that sometimes we can get caught up in listening to too much news and then what happens is, instead of looking to God we become fearful. It is easy to get into that rut especially on the Internet where the news is right before our faces! Every day we hear and see doom and gloom, and this affects our life to the point of becoming negative and wondering just what is happening to our world, are these the end times, and if so, what should we expect to happen?

I have been reading the Book of Revelation, and yes, we are in the end times. But God does tell us that those of us who turn our lives to Jesus do not have to worry. Jesus is coming again for His Bride and that is who we are! So, how should we live? This month Valentine's Day is a day to set aside to show love for one another. It is primarily a day for lovers to express their love, but we all take advantage of it to show love to parents, children, family and friends. Could you imagine if we took every day to show our love to others? As Christians we see Jesus as our Model of love. He is the perfect Lover! People may disappoint, but He never does. His perfect Sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary shows us just how much His Love was and is poured out for us!

When the world looks at love it may seem like all is so wonderful, everything is beautiful, and it will last forever. However, this love is expressed through a dim window, it is not bright and cheerful and altogether satisfying, as good as it may seem. It cannot ever truly satisfy. If we look to people to receive love, somehow it will always fall short, and our own love for others will also do the same. There is only one Perfect Person and that is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who willingly went to the Cross of Calvary to suffer and die for our sins so that we can have life eternal in the Glory of Heaven with His Father, with Him and all the angels and saints who have gone on before us. Nothing else could ever satisfy our hearts like this. This is Perfect Love.

Let us examine our life at this time. How much do we seek God's Presence in our life? How much do we seek His Son Jesus? Is it with merely a quick prayer said out of obligation, or is it with a hungry heart that presses in for more of Him? How hungry are we? Are we at the point of starvation, where only His Presence can satisfy? If not, then let us take time this month to fast and pray, and spend time in His Word. Let us take time to seek His Face, to reach out for more, to cry out for a hungry heart if we do not have one! Jesus waits for us, He stands there and says "Come to Me all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." (Matt. 11:28) Sometimes we get so weary, we feel as if we have nothing left inside of us to reach out, to cry for His Presence. The following song expresses what is needed to see and hear from Him.

"Open the eyes of my heart, Lord,
Open the eyes of my heart.
I want to see You.
I want to see You.
To see You high and lifted up,
Shining in the light of Your glory.
Pour out Your power and love,
As we sing Holy, Holy, Holy."

Let us keep these words in our heart, and cry out to Jesus day and night. Let the words of this song imbed in our hearts until we receive Holy Spirit revelation of who God is… and then on to receiving from God to the point of saturation. Let us become so saturated in His Love that we hunger for more of Him! Let us stay in the Word so that He can speak to us each day, and turn our hearts to receive from Him.

Let us allow Jesus an open door to our heart; one that will never close down. When we fall in love with someone, the first sign of it is the desire to be with that person day and night. When we are apart, it feels empty and sad. As soon as we come together our heart dances, a smile comes on our lips, all is well with the world! How much more should it be with the Lover of our soul? Just think of how much He loves you, how much He sacrificed for you. If you were the only person in the world, He would have gone to the Cross just for you! You are that much loved  by Him!

One of the ways that Jesus speaks to us is from His Word. If we want to know what He thinks of us, or what is on His mind, then stay in the Word. Spend time every day with a Bible reading plan and soak in what is learned. Let Him speak, pay attention to what He has to say! Another way is through preaching during Sunday worship. Many times I have had something on my mind that needed clarification or an answer, and somehow God has been silent. Then on Sunday during Pastors sermon something is said that makes it all make sense! It is as if God has spoken to me personally! He will do this for all of us who set our hearts to hear from Him! It is so exciting when this happens!

Another way to hear from Him is to set aside time every day to pray, and listen. I found that evening works for me. Some like to do this first thing in the morning, which is great if you are a morning person. It is a perfect way to start the day! I speak to Jesus in the morning, thank Him for the day, then ask Him to guide me during the day so that He will be glorified. If I have prayer requests, which I always do, I give these needs to Him. During the day I speak to Him, asking for direction, guidance, wisdom and anything else on my mind. But I also simply praise Him and thank Him for all He is doing.
However in early evening, I put all my cares aside and spend time in His Presence. I seek His Face and His Gifts and read His Word. This encourages me, and gives me peace and strength. I am quiet so that I can hear from Him and receive.

It may be different for you. If you are married, you will have a husband or wife to give attention to. You may come home from work, have to cook, help children with homework, or stay up with a newborn baby who refuses to sleep at night. Whatever is your time of life, just do whatever is best for you, whatever works. Just take some time as Jesus is standing there waiting. He wants to hear from you. He wants to dry your tears, whisper Words of love to you, give you Spiritual Gifts, encourage you, and equip you to be a blessing to others. He is the Lover of our soul.

Father in Jesus Name we thank You for sending Your Son Jesus to come to earth to love us, and die for us so that we can have eternal life. Father, Son and Holy Spirit we love You and want to live our lives for You. Come into our heart, fill us to the brim, speak to us so that we can have courage to press in and grow more in You. We want more of You Lord! We love You. Day Father, we give You our heart. Amen.

In His Service,

Pastor Barbara
