But I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11)

Dear Friend,

Happy New Year! We wish you and your loved ones a very blessed new year, filled with God’s choicest blessings and happy surprises! Isn’t it just wonderful that every twelve months we get to put our past behind us and move forward into the future? What a tremendous revelation this is for everyone, as there are many things that we want to put behind us in the past year. Now we can start fresh and new and proceed with joy and hope in our hearts! There is hope for our future as God tells us in Jeremiah 29:11. So, today, let us take what we learned from last year, and use it for the good. What have you learned? Sit back now, relax, and reflect upon the events in your life in the past year. What challenges did you face? How did you meet those challenges? Were you successful? If not, what could you have done better to take care of them? Personally, I see for myself that the mistake I made was to work beyond my endurance. I ended up in the hospital with pneumonia, and If things were done differently, that probably would not have happened. I have since learned to relegate responsibilities to a very competent staff. I have learned to rest when I need to, and work hard when the energy strikes.

Our ministry is totally run by volunteers, and we all do this because God has placed it on our hearts. We are privileged to be able to do this work! Just think, it will be 27 years this October! He has given gifts such as administration, secretarial, prayer partners, seniors who love to minister to seniors, intercessors, and He has placed us all together to do the work of the ministry. As an intercessor, you play an important role in CHN, praying for the needs of others each month on the Agape Battalion, or on the phones of Hope Connection, John Ramirez ministries, or All of us together make a powerful team moving together with God as our Head.

As I sit here, I think of how much Jesus loves you!! You co-labor with Him, and as you pray and lift needs up to Him, He intercedes in heaven before His heavenly Father. “Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them”(Hebrews 7:25) I wonder, how many years have you been a partner in prayer with Christian Hope Network? Think back, and let me know. I see the names of those who partner financially with us, and I want to thank you right now for all of your giving! Whether you are giving $2.00 a month, or $100.00 a month, you are keeping this ministry going, and prayers are going out every single day for hundreds of people. You are keeping the prayer line open for those who need someone to talk to and pray with. Lives are being changed, and prayers are being answered. I want you to be encouraged that your partnership through prayer and giving is making a difference!

God has good plans for every man, woman and child this year. However, it is up to us to cooperate with those plans! By keeping close to Him, and praying without ceasing, we have the head start. If we truly want His will in all things, then it is up to us to ask Him what His plan is for us, and then when He reveals it, to follow it!

During the winter months I find it so comforting to relax with a soft blanket on me and listen to quiet worship music as I read my Bible and meditate on His Word. To me, there is nothing better: it satisfies my soul. If I add a hot cup of cocoa, then I am in heaven! It is during these precious quiet times that God chooses to speak to us. His plans are more than we could ever think of or imagine. He knows the future He wants for us, and if we quiet ourselves we will be able to hear what they are. If we listen, we will hear, and that can mean the difference between life and death because His plans are for good.

Let us be honest now. I know I was a hard teen-ager to deal with as I somehow thought I knew better than my mom with things. Now that I am older, I tell my mom who is in heaven, “I”M SORRY!” I think of all the times my life could have been so much easier if I listened to her wisdom and applied it. Don’t we all do that? And unfortunately in many cases, it is too late for them to say, “I told you so!” (Smile) I wonder...God who sees all, knows all, and loves us unconditionally, has to hear us when we figure all this out: that His plans were the best. However, it is never too late to tell Him that! And when He hears, He draws out new plans that will work out for the good! There is nothing too hard for Him! So, even if we messed up last year, today is a new day. Today, we can begin again brand new if we will only listen and follow His path. He will lead us, so will we follow?

There is an old expression that says “Today is the first day of the rest of my life.” Today we can listen, we can be encouraged, we can be directed, we can follow the good plans that God has for us. The past is gone, it is over. Now we look to the future with joy and hope and encouragement! Praise God!

Father, in Jesus’ Name I lift up this person to You, and place him or her in Your loving arms. Father, I ask that You encourage this person, that you fill this person with hope, with life, with joy, with expectation of the wonderful things in store for him or her. Bless this person mightily, and touch all that concerns him or her, and meet every need according to Your riches in glory. Thank You for this new year, we give it to You for Your honor and Your glory. Amen!

God bless you,
