JULY 2018

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)

Dear Friend,

Trusting that all is well with you and your loved ones. We are fine here, and enjoying the summer months. It is so welcomed after the harsh winter and even spring this year.

July is normally a month when we can relax, and take things easy. Children are home from school, which can be busy, I know, but the stress of getting them up and out in the morning, and the getting of homework accomplished is off for a while.  I used to love taking my children to the park to play. I would sit under a tree and relax while they safely ran around having fun. I would take that time to rest and meditate upon the Lord and all that He was doing in our lives. Life was not easy for me during that time, there were many things going on in my life that brought hurt and discouragement to me. But these times of waiting upon Him, and resting in Him, brought peace to my soul.

It is amazing how we can worry, and fret, and feel so helpless at times. Even after we receive Jesus into our lives, things can get out of control and wear us out if we allow them to. Life is not always easy. Jesus did not promise us a rose garden, He said there will be times in our life when we would have tribulations. So, I believe that we should take Him on His Word especially during those times, and begin to focus on Him and His Promises. He has promised that He will always be there for us, and in Psalm 77:14 the Psalmist says “You are the God who performs miracles; you display Your power among the peoples.”  Wow! Also, in Hebrews 2:3,4 it says ...”How shall we escape if we ignore such a great salvation?” This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard Him. God also testified to it by signs, miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to His will.”

Throughout His Word, God tells us over and over again that He is with us and we are not to fret. Winter is thought of as a time of trial, a difficult time. But there is an answer for that too. As we wait for winter to pass in the natural, God tells us to wait for Him. He says that as we wait, He will renew our strength in such a way that we will run and press in, and not get weary. As we wait, He works in the background!  When we relinquish our rights to hold on to things; to worry, to try to “fix” things, He is free to step in and help!    He has a wonderful plan for our life. If we keep ourselves in tune with God, if we do not

rush in to bring answers to our situations, He will answer and guide us in the way we should go!

So, back to summer! We are in the season now to rest. We are in a time of stopping for a time to rest from our labor. Ahhhhh, sweet rest!  Let us take time this summer to sit on a park bench, to sit in our back yard, or at a beach, wherever we can find rest and peace. I have the ocean in walking distance, so I take advantage of going there and watching the waves as they come in. I smell the salt air, take a deep breath, and just gaze at God’s creation.  I also have a park near me, so I will take my Bible and sit under a tree and read. I love hearing the voices of the children as they run and play.

No matter what is going on in our life, we need to take these times of rest! We need to take time to enjoy God’s creation. We need to learn to wait upon the Lord as we pray for our concerns. God’s timing is better than ours. If we think we can do it better, or go ahead of Him, we are sadly mistaken. Take the time today to relax, even in your living room, and give your cares over to Him. Pray, read His Word, and then trust! Go on with your day as you place your trust in Him. Accomplish what needs to be done. But always, take the time out that is needed to release yourself from your concerns. If we truly, truly, trust Him, then it will happen if we do this.  He wants you to be at peace, He wants to meet your needs. He wants to love on you! He Who created you and watched you grow in your mother’s womb, Who had and has such great plans for you, wants to see it all come to pass.

I love what the Psalmist says in Psalm 19:14. He says “Let the word of my mouth, and the meditations of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.”   What thoughts fill our mind? What words come out of our mouth? Do they speak of the Glory of God?  Or do they speak of fear, of retaliation, of non-trust in Him? From now on, let us all pay attention to our words!  When we are in the middle of a trial, let us recall the Words and Promises of God. Let us apply them to our life, and receive them!  There is a promise for every situation throughout the Bible, if we look for them. Summer is a great time to unwind, and relax, and read God’s Word which will lift us up and encourage us. It is a time to take a deep breath and take in the sunshine and the cool breezes as we sit under a tree, or in our backyard.  It is a time to watch the waves coming to shore so gently, as we breathe in the ocean air. It is a time to catch up with ourselves and regain our health and peace. As we do our part, God will do His! He will bring encouragement, He will answer your prayers in ways you never thought of, for your good. He loves you with an everlasting love. You are His son, his daughter, and you are important to Him. He hears your every prayer, and He will answer in ways you never thought of. When I think of how God answered my prayers (not necessarily the way I thought He should) I am amazed of how He has worked in my life. He will do the same for you!

Father, in Jesus Name, I lift up this reader to You, and I ask that You would give him or her the special peace that only You can give. Meet this persons needs’ according to Your plan, according to Your riches, according to Your purposes for this life. Amen. God bless you!

God bless you!
