....Do not sorrow; for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10)

Dear Friend,

Trusting that all is well with you and your loved ones. It is so good to enjoy the warm, sunny, June weather. We had a great winter, warmer than usual, but the snow and ice in March made us long for Spring and Summer. I love watching the flowers spring up and blossom, and the grass turn a beautiful green again. Everything comes to life around this time of year in NY. God must have so much fun speaking it all forth and watching it bring beauty to the land. Can you just picture God sitting back and laughing while enjoying His creation?

If God can laugh, and the Bible says He does, why can’t we? God laughed at diversity, when His creation thought they were higher than Him. So.... when we face diversity, what should we do? “He who sits in the heavens shall laugh: The Lord shall hold them in derision.” (Ps. 2:4) He is the God of hope! When we trust in Him, and we take Him at His Word, He fills us with peace and joy.

God also laughs with joy too! Seeing His creation come to life as He speaks the Word must truly give Him joy. Imagine speaking to the ground and commanding a flower to grow and blossom! Glory! It is almost beyond our imagination on this... and imagine, you and I were in His thoughts when He planted us into our mothers’ womb! He knew you and me before we were born. He had such a future for us, one where we would grow beautifully at His command in the womb, and then born with promise! Such joy in Him and in all of heaven! You and I are here because God has created us, and God has a future for us. Just think of how you feel if you are a parent. While waiting for your baby to be born, you had all these hopes and dreams for your child’s future. After birth, this precious, beautiful, sweet baby began to give you endless nights with no sleep until he or she finally began to sleep at night. You took care of him or her while being exhausted, but with such deep love and much patience. Imagine the patience of God with us! As our child grew we made plans for his or her future. What schools would he go to? What church has the best Sunday School? What friends are good for him or her? So many decisions, and all made with deep love from you. As parents we enjoy the good times, but then we worry when things don’t go as planned. Things may come against us, we may have to make tough decisions, but the One Thing that we had that took us through it all was the love of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and of course, that precious smile from our babies that melted our hearts. Therefore, even with all the love we feel for our child, there is one Greater! Jesus loves us with an everlasting love!

When sickness comes, or when a job is lost, or when we see our child going the wrong way, we pray with all our heart. What happens after we pray? How do we take away the fear, or the worry? It is one thing to pray, but then another thing to totally trust that God has heard, and that He will answer, and that He can laugh at the situation knowing that it has to bow to Him! The Bible says that the joy of the Lord is our strength. How long has it been since you felt real joy? When was the last time you laughed out loud? I asked myself those questions recently, and realized that honestly, it has been a while. This past Fall and Winter we had a season of Internet problems, phone problems, and things that held back our “business as usual.”. Technology is wonderful, but it does have its drawbacks. As a result of all this, I ended up not feeling well. My body developed a horrible itch, and nothing that I did eased it. I went to my Family Physician, and Dermatologist, and both said the same thing, I was suffering from stress.

One doctor gave me an allergy medicine that made me sleep for 4 straight days! I went back and told him what happened, and his answer was, that I most likely needed that, but then he gave me a smaller dosage. I took it for a while and then as I began to feel better I took less and less. Thank God I am off them now, but still get itchy from time to time.

This is what happens when we lose our focus on the Lord. I was so wrapped up with doing His work that I lost my private time with Him, and as a result I lost my peace. I plan to never let that happen again! But.... life does happen, things come our way that are no fault of ours, work needs to be done, and schedules have to be met. So, what is the answer? How can we receive our joy back when we may have to work a 16 hour day in order to just keep up with what needs to be done? How can we get that work accomplished and at the same time keep calm, and be joyful? I found that getting more sleep at night helped, and I was able to get that once the itching eased up, but It was still not enough. I continued with my daily Bible reading, I continued to have special time with the Lord, but I did it differently. I started to look for passages in His Word that brought comfort, and joy, I started to pray the Scriptures, taking a verse and making it personal to me. I stopped watching so much news!! Yes, we have to know what is going on in the world, especially so that we can pray for the situations. However, we do not have to have a 24 hour diet of it!

This time of year is beautiful because everything is so colorful and full of life! The sun is shining, the trees are in full bloom, and nature calls us outdoors. I am starting to walk again, and as I walk I breathe in the flavors of the day. The work will get done, and it will not be because of me. It will be because as I take time out for Jesus, He refreshes my soul and gives me strength. He will do the same for you! Enjoy the beautiful days that are coming! Let us pray...Father, in Jesus Precious Name, I lift up this reader to You, and ask that You give this person a special experience of You and Your love. Help this person to relax, and rest in You. Give this person peace, and the Gift of Laughter! In Jesus Precious Name I pray. Amen!

God bless you!
