“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)

Dear Friend,

Trusting that all is well with you and your loved ones. We are all fine, and giving God praise for a brand new year.  Our January prayer call was a blessing. It was a pleasure to pray with our intercessors for the New Year, and trust that God is going to move powerfully among us, and in the world. We are expecting wondrous things this year, and believe that God is empowering His church to be His witnesses wherever their feet touch ground. Glory!

During the time of the Book of Acts we are stirred by the amazing miracles that took place. It is exciting to read about the blind seeing, the lame walking, and the deaf hearing! What a mighty God we serve! When Jesus gave the Great Commission, saying that we would receive power from the Holy Spirit to be witnesses throughout the earth, there was so much more to that than we could ever think of or imagine!

In the Old Testament, Holy Spirit empowerment was given only to select people who were specifically called by God for a particular work. But under the New Covenant, all believers are included in this promise! It is the very activity of the Holy Spirit that empowers believers to live the Christian life, to boldly go forth to witness God’s mercy and love, to speak with courage and spiritual understanding. This is something that every believer should expect! Let us stop for a minute, and take this time, right now, to ask the Holy Spirit to empower us from on high, to boldly walk in places where we never have before, to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to everyone we meet! Did you pray? I did!  Good! Now we must expect God to act! We must expect that He will give us opportunities to open our mouth to proclaim His mercy and love!

You may be wondering right now where you will do this. It is simple. Wherever you are, there is someone who needs help. Someone who needs both practical and spiritual help. Look around, and listen carefully when people speak. Your neighbor down the block may be going through a hard time right now. Perhaps they are a family where the husband was laid off from his job, and there is not enough money to feed the children. What can you do about this? At night when no one is looking, or very early in the morning, a bag filled with groceries can be placed at their door with a note saying that Jesus loves them.

As you walk down the street, you see your neighbor who was in the hospital. Stop and say “hello.” Find out if your neighbor needs anything at the store. Offer to drive him or her to a doctor’s appointment. Meanwhile, you have the opportunity to open up about your faith, and what God has done for you. Offer prayer support! Be a good listener!

Every Born Again believer is to be a priest among the people. We are to minister to one another, and to all those we meet. We are Holy Spirit empowered to do just that! Recently I heard Ed Silvoso speak at our church, and he made it so clear! As priests, we are to pastor the places where we go. At work, we are to pastor our work place. This does not mean that we will begin setting up services or prayer meetings, although it would be nice to be allowed to hold prayer meetings during lunch time. But not every place would allow that, and we must obey the rules. But, nothing can stop us from praying for our co-workers, or listening to their problems during a break or lunch time. Nothing can stop us from encouraging them and offering to pray for them. Nothing can stop us from praying a good dose of spiritual warfare before leaving for work, and praying for God’s protection, blessings and peace on the day and all workers there. Just think of how the atmosphere will change if this is done every single day! Wow! Another thing, just think of how productivity will increase, which will increase the finances which can lead to prosperity for all employees!

Once we receive Jesus as Lord and Savior, we have been given the power to live a full, Spirit-filled life. This means that we are given power for service, power to make a difference in the lives of others. What legacy do you want to leave for your loved ones? What kind of a difference do you want to make in this life? Life is not about getting, it is about giving. It is about service. Jesus taught us that by His example and by His Word. When we truly forget about ourselves, and think of others first, real joy comes. What good is a fancy meal in a high class restaurant when we know that our neighbor and his family are hungry and we do nothing about it? What good is getting ahead at work at the possible expense of others? We can never really be happy if that is the case. When we seek the highest good for others, miracles can happen, and we open the doors of Heaven to receive blessings beyond measure. God wants the best for us, and we cannot ever out give God.

Think about what is truly important to you today. Are you confined to four walls, where your daily view is nothing more than just what is outside the window? Ask God to enlarge your vision so that you can see what He sees, and what His purposes are. Ask Him to show you His purpose for your life, where you can be a blessing, and where you can make a difference. He will gladly show you! There is so much more to this life, why not have it all? Ask for it, and trust that your Heavenly Father wants nothing more than for you to be happy, to be fulfilled in this life, continuing on to enjoy life eternal with Him forever!

God bless you as you pray for others!
