“The Name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.” (Proverbs 18:10)

Dear Friend,

Trusting that all is well with you and your loved ones. We are fine, and giving God glory for all that He is doing. Christian Hope Network of Kenya celebrates six wonderful years of ministry on November 19th. Praise God! Pastor James Onyango Owuor has pressed in with his team to serve God in excellence in His area. He follows what we do here, working with Eagles Wings ministry for the Day to Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem, gathering pastors of churches all over to participate in Pray Kenya when we hold Pray NY. Recently a center was open for women to offer life skills to help widows and all women, to rise up out of poverty and into the work force. Our ministry in the U.S. extends to seniors, where in Kenya, widows and orphans are their primary concern. Because of you, our intercessors and partners, we have been able to help with tuition and uniforms for two very bright students, Reagan and Mercy. They are doing exceptionally well in school, God bless them! The need is great there, if God touches your heart to give, please add your dollars to your monthly pledge and indicate on your giving card the amount to go to the children, and/or to CHN of Kenya to help keep them going strong. God bless you!

In Kenya, living day by day is always a struggle. There are people living in poverty such as we have never seen here in the United States. We have our homeless people, and people who struggle to survive, but even with the lowest level of poverty here, we are still more fortunate in our country. However, one thing that I have noticed, and that is the level of faith in these poverty stricken areas. Christians in Kenya are so hungry for the Gospel, they take what they hear and read at face value, and if God says He will do it, they simply believe it. I look around in our city, and I see how much we have lost. Yes, we attend church, we attend Bible studies, we have access to the finest teachings anywhere. But do we take it at face value? Jesus said to come as a little child. “Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little Child will by no means enter it.” (Mark 11:15) I like the story about a father, standing in a pool, calling out to his child to jump into his arms, that he would catch him. The child, trusting his father, leaps into his arms. Isn’t this what God does for us?

He calls out to us to simply trust Him, and what do we do? We examine the situation, take a look, and then see if it will work! Where is our faith?

Day by day we face challenges, such as sickness, loss of a job, marital problems, children in trouble. Day to day life can be tough! However, as Christians, as followers of Christ, we have so much more than the world has! We have the promises of God to apply to our situations! Praise God! There is a place of safety, where we can place our trust! The Name of the Lord is a strong tower! We have a BIG STRONG GOD! He stands there with open arms, and calls us to run into them! Will we be like that child, who places all his trust in his daddy, and simply jump?

Recently I  took a nice long walk by the ocean near where I live, and enjoyed the beautiful, colorful sunset. It was so peaceful; it is a great place to just soak in the majesty of our Lord. It is a blessing to be able to sit on a bench, and watch and listen to the waves hitting against the rocks while breathing in the fresh salt air. It is so peaceful, and it gives me a connection with nature, with all that God has created. This is the place where I especially love to commune with Jesus, and talk about what is on my heart. It could be because of the vastness of the ocean, and how it seems to connect with the sky. It gives such a feeling of freedom and trust in a God who created all of this! As the leaves turn to beautiful autumn colors all along the parkway by the ocean, it also makes one see God as an Artist, capturing  the beauty of Who He is. How awesome is He, that He would create such beauty all around us for us to enjoy! How much more will He come to our aid when we cry out to Him! Glory!

This Thanksgiving, let us ponder upon these things. Let us allow God to minister to us! He loves you and me so much that He wants fellowship. He longs for us to cry out to Him with our deepest longings and desires. He wants us to spend time with Him so that He can reveal His secrets and encourage us to press in. As we spend that time, He is Faithful to listen, to be there, to let us know that in Him, we have a Strong Tower. We have a Mighty God who will never leave us or forsake us. We have a hiding place, a place where we can enter and be protected. It does not matter what is going on in the world, we know to Whom we belong. We know that His promises are for now, for today. We know that we can come to Him anytime, day or night, and He will hear us. He sees our tears, He sees our struggles, and He holds out His arms to catch us. Glory!

God wants you to know that whatever is going on in your life, that He is Faithful to give good gifts to His children. He sees that son or daughter you are praying for. He sees your struggles in your marriage, He sees how you are working hard to make ends meet to pay your bills and put food on the table. Yes!! And He calls out to you, to jump into His loving arms.

God bless you! We wish you and your loved ones a Blessed Thanksgiving Day.

God bless you!
