Let us come before His Presence with thanksgiving:  Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.” (Psalm 95:2)

Dear Friend,

Trusting that all is well with you. Things are going smoothly here, and we are thanking God for all that He is doing in our midst. This month, in the United States, we will celebrate Thanksgiving Day, and thank God for His many blessings. There is so much that He has done for us, and, surprisingly, we seem to take it for granted. The fact that we are here for another day to praise Him and see His Goodness on earth is a blessing! I don’t know about you, but with each passing year, life seems more precious. I am very grateful for family, children, grandchildren, dear friends, and the ministry God has entrusted to me. Bless God for the freedom to attend church on Sundays, to praise His name, and hear His Word. Thanks to God for all the trials that He has allowed us to endure this year. His abiding presence has sustained us through them all.

You are God’s special blessing! You are embraced in prayer daily. Even if we have never met personally, you are special in God’s kingdom. Your prayers, your life, your connection, are a blessing.

Thinking of past decades stirs up a memory of asking my little redheaded girl’s reflection in the mirror, “Who am I, and why am I here?” I recall looking at Mom and knowing she was always there to run to if needed. She calmed fears in the dark, took care of cuts and scratches, and listened with humor to my endless chatter. At that time, Dad was still with us, coming home from work on time, and putting me on his knee as he read stories. I always cried out for “One More!” especially when it was close to bedtime!

However, one day while outdoors playing, the odor of burnt leaves filled the air. It was crisp and it was sunny out. Unaware of seasonal changes yet, the lovely colors of autumn leaves, and freshness of Fall after a long hot summer, became a brilliant crunchy wonderland. It was on such a day that I looked up at the clear blue sky and asked that question. I suddenly knew that there was a reason to be there, but was not sure of why. That night I asked my mom, but she remained silent. There was no answer. However, that Sunday we went to church for the first time. My heart leaped when hearing about Jesus and why He came to earth. Suddenly it made sense! If Jesus came here to earth and became a human being, like me, and if He had a reason to be here, then so did I! Wanting to know more about Him, I started to attend Sunday School and saw that the teachers loved Him so much! We were Catholic at the time, and when I heard about Catholic School, and begged my mom to let me go there, she agreed. I attended Resurrection School until the 3rd grade. Mom and Dad separated at the end of that school year, and we moved in with Grandpa and Mom’s brother. I contacted polio that summer and had a genuine encounter with Jesus, the Living God. That’s when I found out why I am here, and my purpose in life. It was to know Him, love Him, and serve Him all of my days; just as I was taught in church and in school. My healing of polio was miraculous; the doctor said there was no other explanation after I told him that I could walk because Jesus healed me. That day is edged in my memory forever! During the time of confinement, I followed what my teacher had told us at the end of the school year. She said to always talk to Jesus, He never sleeps, and is always there to listen and help us. The days and weeks in bed were filled by talking to Him constantly. At one point I heard in my inner man His voice saying, “Get up and walk.” After a few tries, it happened! I took a few steps, held on to the bureau, and called, “Mom!” She called the doctor immediately. He was in shock. I told everyone about what Jesus did, and am still telling everyone who will listen, because He is so Good! Whatever is on your mind and heart right now..... let Him know about it.... speak to Him and He will hear you!

Why not take time out this month to talk to Jesus, to read His Word, to learn of Him? This might be a good time to reflect on your life and see all that He has done for you. There have been answers to prayer that are probably forgotten. Ask Him to refresh your memory so that you can, once again, thank Him. Think of what He is doing right now in your life! The very fact that you can read this means that you have eyes to see. Look around you and see your loved ones. If you have no family, that is okay, see your friends. If you do not have friends, then see the One who loves you so much, who will always be there for you, and is a Friend forever. We are never alone!

Let us take time out this month to look at the beautiful clear autumn sky, and enjoy the Fall colors. Let us breathe in the fresh air and just allow ourselves “to be.” Let us appreciate all that God has given us. Let us never take for granted the people that God has placed in our life. Yes, trials and tribulations come, and things may be heavy on our hearts. Let us take time to appreciate and thank the God who loves us so much that He sent His only Son to come to earth, to live among us, suffer as we do, and die on the Cross of Calvary for our sins. However, the Good News is that Jesus Rose from the dead! He is alive forevermore. The Bible tells us in Hebrews 7:25:

Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.”

We have so much for which to be thankful! Why not make a list and read it every day? Every time you find another reason, write it down. You will end up with a book!

Father, in Jesus Precious Name, I lift up this reader to You, and place him or her into your loving arms. Lord, we take this time together to worship and praise You for Who You are, and for all that You have done, and are doing. Please bestow special blessings on this person, and encouragement as needed today, knowing that, with You, all things are possible. Give this person a miracle this month; touch and heal, whether in body, family, work, or for someone for whom they have been praying. We thank you abundantly! Praise You Father!

God bless you!
