“So shall My Word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 54:11)

Dear Friend,

Trusting that all is well with you and your loved ones. Praise God, all is well here. Can you believe that it is September already? Where does the time go? Soon the leaves will begin to turn into brilliant oranges, golds, and reds, and the smell of autumn will be in the air. On Sunday, Oct. 5th, churches throughout the world will be praying in one accord for the peace of Jerusalem. So much is going on in Israel and prayer is desperately needed! We pray according to Psalm 122:6 that says “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: May they prosper who love you.” This is a promise from God; if we pray, we will prosper. That is how important it is to Him. God loves the whole Middle East so we keep all that area in prayer as well.  It is not too late to get your church involved. Let your pastor know about this day, and give him or her the web site: www.daytopray.com to find out more. The phone number for more info is: 1 800 51-WINGS. Last year I had the blessing of being in Israel at the time for the Day to Pray, and I will always keep that precious experience in my heart.

So many things are changing in this world, that it is difficult to keep up at times! When we look at the news on television, and we hear of wars and rumors of war, and hear about different things going on in our own neighborhoods, it can cause us to become unsettled. Right now we are all involved in the coming Presidential election. Let us pray for God to bring the right person into the White House, and certainly, let us all go out and vote! If you don’t know who you should vote for, ask God to let you know who His choice is, and then follow it.

I grew up in the 40s and 50s, and when I look back, I see how times have really not changed so much! We had wars. I grew up during World War II and the Korean War, and that was not easy. I was really little during the second world war, but I remember hearing the sirens sound off at night, and seeing my mother close heavy drapes to shut out any light coming from the house. This was to darken all the area so the enemy would not have a target to hit. During the Korean war when girls still wore dresses to school, we had to wear thick stockings just in case of a bombing, so that our legs would

be protected. We also wore dog tags with our blood type engraved on it. We would have drills at school where we would quickly get under our desk at the sound of a siren. Then there was Viet Nam, and the Gulf War, and now Iraq. Unfortunately, we just do not seem to rest much from war or talk of war.

But thank God, we have our faith! We can always depend on Jesus to hold us, defend us, and take care of our needs! We can call upon Him any time of the day and night, and He hears us. We can read our Bible which is God’s Word speaking directly to us. Through His Word we receive wisdom and comfort and understanding! God says that the Word that goes forth from His mouth will not return to Him void, but it will accomplish what He pleases. Praise God! God’s Word is Good News! Do you want to hear something uplifting? Read His Word! We never need to wonder what the future holds, or what God has in store for us! When God’s Words are received, our hearts are filled with hope and confidence in what lies ahead! This is how our Christian walk is different from the world! We have hope! The power in God’s Word will always fulfill the promise of the Word! When we receive His Word into our spirit, fruitfulness is guaranteed! This means salvation, and provision! Provision includes meeting our spiritual and physical needs. God’s promises are as sure as the fact of rain and snow. (Isa. 55:11) God wants us to trust Him with all of our heart. He says in Isaiah 43:7 “Everyone who is called by My Name, Whom I have created for My glory; I have formed him, yes, I have made him.” Just think! Does the Creator not love what He has created? Just a tiny example, so minute. Your 4 year old child drew a picture, and brought it to you, all excited about what she drew! This is her creation, and in her eyes it is perfect! You, laughingly, seeing the imperfections, tell her that it is the most beautiful picture you ever saw in your life! And when you look again, yes, it is the most beautiful picture! And you hang it on the refrigerator so that you and all who come to your home can see it. And your child, who created it, can see this beautiful creation every time she passes by. How much do you think, God loves HIS creation? Can you just picture Him looking at you right now, and in spite of your imperfections, He sees you as perfect? His Father heart loves you so much, that no matter what is going on in the world, He will always be there to watch over you! He always has you on His mind. When you read His Word, and You receive it as your Heavenly Daddy speaking to you, nothing in this world can shake you! You have His promises! You have His attention! You have His love. Today, take time to sit in a comfortable chair, and read His Word. Let the Words come forth into your spirit, and receive all that He has to give. Receive His peace. Receive His Wisdom and Understanding, and His Love. Do not let world events shake you. You have access to the Great I Am, the Alpha and the Omega, the Most High God! Nothing by any means shall harm you. Let us pray...

Father, in Jesus mighty and precious Name, this reader and I come before Your Throne of Grace covered by the Blood of Jesus so that we can appear before You righteous. Lord, we praise You, and love You, and adore You! We thank You for giving us Your Word! We thank You that Your Word is powerful! I ask You to touch this reader in a powerful way this day. Father, encourage this reader in all that is happening in his or her life, and prove Yourself strong on his or her behalf. We thank You Lord for Your provision of health, strength, peace, love, joy, and prosperity. Thank You for meeting all of his or her needs according to Your riches in glory! Amen and amen!

In His Service,

Pastor Barbara
