September 2012

But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)

Dear Friend,

Greetings! Trusting that all is well with you and your loved ones. Everyone is fine here, thank God. This has been a challenging year for some of us, BUT our God is Faithful! His Word is True and Amen! Here we are in September already, can you believe it? Children are returning to school, and we are preparing for the Fall and Winter. This year is such an important one too, with Presidential elections coming up. I urge you to please learn the issues and vote for the person of your choice. So much has changed in the past few years; things that most of us never even thought of when growing up. The future of our children and grandchildren are at stake, and the economy is a huge issue. We wonder if our children and grandchildren will have jobs when they graduate from school!

However, for those of us who know the Lord, who live for Jesus, and know His Word, we can look up and be encouraged. Praise God! Nothing is too hard for God and His purposes and plans for us are for good! Jesus tells us:

Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell what you have and give alms; provide yourselves money bags which do not grow old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches nor moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Luke 12:32-34)

Where is our treasure? Let us think about it. What is most important to us? What takes up our thoughts, our time, and our conversation? What do we do in our spare time? What is it that concerns us? With all that is going on right now, such as the elections, world events, Israel and the Middle East, joblessness, votes on issues such as marriage and abortion, we really have much to think about. It can be so easy to simply say “these are the times we are in” and close our eyes to it all. However, we must think of future generations, and what our country is becoming. We are in times where the elderly are at risk, not only with medical care, but in basic everyday needs. So, where do we go from here? What do we do?

Jesus tells us not to fear, that our God will supply! Praise God! I have seen that over

and over in my own life. Let me ask some mothers this question. Have your children ever unexpectedly brought home friends for dinner? My children used to do that all the time! They would also bring home children whose parents worked and were not home, those whose parents were divorced and were left alone while the mother dated boyfriends, those who needed special help at school but had a parent who did not speak English, and the list goes on. Of course this would happen while I already had our dinner cooking on the stove, and it was enough for just the five of us. (Smile) Yet.... when I would put the food on the table, there was always more than enough, and even left over! God would always supernaturally grow the food! So, when Jesus asks us where our treasure is, what is the answer? Could it be the displaced children who needed family relationships and a good hot dinner? I truly think so. Of course I did not see that at the time, all I could do was pray and ask Him to multiply what we had!

This election is important. It means the future of our country, and we absolutely must learn the issues and then vote if we want to see our future generations grow in a peaceful existence, one where freedom of religion is valued and God is revered and lifted up in schools and public places. We must pay attention to what is happening in the world, especially in the Middle East. Our President and our country must support Israel, our Ally. We know that Israel is our friend, and will support us too! Our faith comes from there, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The Messiah, Jesus Christ, was born, raised, performed miracles, suffered and died for us in that land. I found that when I went to Israel, I immediately knew I was home, and cried when I had to leave to come back.

Therefore, again, where is our treasure? What do we think is important? Our faith, our family, our friends, our co-workers, our land, our freedom? I can go on and on. Yet we worry about the future, when Jesus tells us not to. We see poverty, we see joblessness, we see companies closing down, and we wonder what is going to happen next? My friend, we have choices to make. Know God’s Word, receive it and believe it. Know what is important in life. It is not gathering riches to have “things.” It is people, it is faith, it is loving others unconditionally and honoring those before us. It is being informed and doing our part to make this world a better place to live in for our next generations. It is above all, to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ everywhere we go!! Souls need to be saved! This life is temporary, what happens after we leave this earth is permanent.

Know that God is with you and for you! Know that He will always take care of you! We do have trials and tribulations in this world, but because of Him, we are overcomers. Let us vow today to think upon what is important and do what we should to make this a better world to live in for those who need help. Let us examine our hearts and our relationship with Jesus. Do we really, really know Him? Is He on our mind all the time? Do we make Him first, and pray unceasingly? Let us wake up and begin to really live our life, close to the One who gave it to us, Who cheers us on, Who wants ever so much to fellowship with us day and night. Father, I lift up this reader, and ask for Your special blessings upon him or her. Encourage this person, meet all his or her needs according to Your riches in glory. Supply all that is needed, above and beyond so that this person can be a blessing to others. Fill this heart with Your love, Your peace, and Your joy, for Your honor and glory. Amen and amen! God bless you!

In His Service,

Pastor Barbara
