“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:34)

Dear Friend,

Trusting that all is well with you and your loved ones. We are fine after an exciting summer. I could hardly wait to tell you about it!

As you know, I was in the hospital with pneumonia and a kidney infection in April. Thank God for His healing! However, after a while I started to feel very weak, and could hardly drag myself out of bed in the morning. So, I went to my doctor, who is a Christian, and I thought he would tell me to take a vacation! won several gold ribbons. So, my medicine was to get out and walk twice a day, before the office, and again at 7pm. I came home laughing, thinking, okay, I will do that, but I don’t know how much good it will do. That night, as I waited till 7pm it was pouring rain outside. So, I told God that if He wanted me to walk, the rain would stop at 7. Well, it did. I have a feeling my doctor prayed that it would!

So, all this to say that through this, God has birthed a movement. I told my Facebook friends about this, and suddenly, on a Saturday night, God spoke. He said to call it “Hopenet for America.” He said He wanted me to lead a woman's group that would spread around the country to pray for our nation, and our cities. I mentioned this on Facebook, and one by one, women joined up from their different states and cities and said that they would walk. I gave no rules, it was walk for health, and walk to pray. Everyone could walk according what their body could do. I saw that some days I could walk 4 blocks, and others 6. Now it is increasing as I am gaining strength in my body. I would also like to see men walking, and families walking together; all walking for health and praying for our land.

A man went into a church in South Carolina and killed a pastor and people from his church as they held a prayer meeting. Why? Because of the color of their skin! There are no words.... what is happening now were things I heard and saw while growing up, and I guess that is why I have always had a deep love for people of color. This wonderful church showed the love of God as they one by one forgave the man who did this. They have taught our nation what love is. We release that man in God’s hands, and whether we feel it or not, we do what Jesus said to do. We forgive. This is what I learned and saw from that congregation. It is the same as when in 1980 my own son was murdered. We never found out who did it. However, I told God then that I forgave him and put him in His hands. And with that, God was able to heal me.

The amount of energy people put into hate is mind boggling. The enemy has such a hold over them that one could see the demonic in them.

As far as the gay marriage, as Christians we love everyone, but homosexuality is against the Word of God, and that is what we follow. We will see what happens when pastors will be asked to go against Biblical teaching and obey the law of the land. We pray that our constitutional right to freedom of religion will not be altered. Homosexuality is a sin just like every other sin. Sin is ugly, and it hurts. The only thing that will bring change is prayer. So we pray for them for salvation, to be delivered from this sin, and we pray for godly leaders who will uphold the constitution and Christian values..

Our whole country needs prayer like never before. We put the news on and it seems to get worse each day. BUT! We have a God who is for us, not against us! There is hope! If we, as a country, pray for it and pray for a Spiritual Awakening, we can expect that God will hear us. I firmly believe that God does have an Awakening on His agenda!

Our elections will be coming up soon. We need someone in office who is a Christian, has traditional values, and has a sound mind and clear objectives to run our country. We need change! I am asking you to please listen to the candidates who want to run for president, hear what they have to say, look at their track record, at their lifestyle, and who they serve. It is our God? Do not be deceived, be serious in hearing them speak, and PRAY! Then get out and vote!! Your vote counts!

This month I am sending you a flyer that I created for our walking teams. As of this writing, my church is also going to participate in HOPENET FOR AMERICA. I will speak to our congregation on Sunday and am looking forward to a good response. You have my permission to make copies of the flyer and give them to your church too. The whole idea is for everyone in America to WALK for health, and PRAY for America. If you, your family, your friends, your church would be willing to walk with us from wherever you are, please let me know! I would like to include you on our walk and pray map! When the weather gets bad, we can all walk and pray in our homes, or walk in a mall if we can get out. There is always a way!

Father, I lift up this reader to you, and place him or her in Your loving arms. Father, so much is going on in our country and in our world right now. Together, this reader and I call upon You to take over. Father, hear our prayers, do what needs to be done, give wisdom to us for what You want us to do, and have mercy on all of us. We release our prayers for our country to You and know that You are Faithful to hear and answer. We praise You Father, we love You, and thank You! Amen!

In His Service,

Pastor Barbara
